Datacenter Migration Lifecycle

To build a house properly, you need detailed blueprints, skilled workers, and cost estimates. You also want to be sure you have a solid foundation on which to build. The same is true of building your cloud datacenter. It is critical to do the proper planning, train your technical team, and understand the costs. Now, more than ever, organizations are required to take a cloud-first approach and minimize on-premises resources. Whether you’re at the beginning of your cloud journey or are ready to deploy/migrate workloads to the cloud, Planet has a refined, customizable engagement to help you achieve your goals.

  • Enterprise Cloud Readiness (ECR)

o   We will assess your existing on-premises servers and provide a report for analyzing their cloud fit. We will help establish the baseline governance required to operate in the cloud. We will work with your operations teams to design and build a cloud Virtual Datacenter (VDC) based on requirements. Additionally, we will skill you up by conducting cost management workshops and providing a 2-day hands-on training. You will receive the foundation necessary to build in the cloud and the confidence to start using it.

  • Migration Planning

o   We will conduct a thorough discovery of current applications to plan their migration to the cloud. Our assessment will include requirements, workload priority, and dependencies. You will receive recommendations on remediating identified technical roadblocks and targeting Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), or Software as a Service (SaaS).

  • Cloud Migrations

o   We will use the priorities and cloud targets outlined in your migration plan to complete server-based or application-based migrations. You will receive expert technical execution, project management, and organization change management. The scope of this can include taking individual applications to PaaS, migrating server groups to IaaS, or executing a large-scale datacenter exit.

  • Operationalizing

o   We work with your team to “Operationalize” your Cloud virtual datacenter by undergoing a thorough maintenance and operations engagement that will equip you with the knowledge and supporting documentation for day-to-day Cloud management. The goal is to establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for both common and not-so-common processes/requests so Azure can be consumed with confidence. Included in this engagement are:

  • Cloud Visioning, Strategic Planning, and Governance Actualization Azure Operational Planning and Design
  • Cloud Resource Provisioning Automation
  • Cloud Operational Framework Delivery and Training
