Copilot Chat in GCC – Attendee FAQ
How do I know if I’m using Copilot in a secure, enterprise environment?
Look for the green shield icon in the top corner of your Copilot interface. Hovering over it will confirm that you have enterprise data protection enabled.
What happens if I switch topics mid-conversation in Copilot?
Copilot builds on the context of your current conversation. To avoid confusion when switching topics, use the “New Chat” button to start fresh and prevent Copilot from merging unrelated prompts.
Can I reuse prompts I’ve written or liked?
Yes! You can save prompts by hovering over them and clicking the ribbon icon. Saved prompts appear under the “Your Prompts” tab in the prompt gallery, making them easy to reuse and edit.
What if Copilot doesn’t cite sources in its response?
While Copilot typically includes references automatically, if they’re missing, you can prompt it again with:
“Can you please cite your sources?”
This usually generates the appropriate links and references.
Where are uploaded files stored when I use them in Copilot?
Files uploaded during a Copilot chat are saved to a folder in your OneDrive called “Microsoft Copilot Chat Files.” You can manage or delete them from there.
Can I use Copilot to create FAQs or policy documents?
Absolutely. Copilot can help you draft policies, summarize them, and even generate FAQs based on assumed user questions. You can then refine or expand these as real questions come in.
What if Copilot gives me a strange or blank response?
This may be due to temporary issues in the GCC environment. If you see a response like “generate response ()”, try again later. These issues are typically resolved quickly.
Can Copilot help me write policies or formal documents?
Yes! You can:
- Draft outlines and full policy language
- Ask Copilot to revise tone or add missing sections
- Insert the content into existing documents
- Summarize changes in a table for leadership or staff
What if I don’t know how to prompt Copilot effectively?
You can ask Copilot:
“Help me write an effective prompt for [your task].”
It will guide you through best practices, including tone, format, and audience.
Can Copilot help me prepare communications for different audiences?
Absolutely. You can ask it to rewrite content for:
- Executives
- General staff
- Public-facing messages
- Social media, emails, or formal letters
