Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management (IRM) now allows analysts to preview files referenced directly within an IRM alert without first creating a case, removing a step that previously slowed early-stage triage. Users with appropriate permissions can view relevant content directly in Activity Explorer within each alert, making it faster to assess whether an alert warrants escalation before committing investigation resources. For GCC High environments where insider risk triage speed and accuracy are critical compliance requirements, this update meaningfully improves the signal-to-noise ratio in alert workflows. The feature is currently rolling out for GCC High environments.

Thumbnail view for PDFs is available in OneDrive and SharePoint on the web
We are improving PDF navigation in OneDrive and SharePoint on the web by adding a thumbnail view in the PDF viewer. Users will be able to open a thumbnail panel to visually browse pages in a PDF and jump directly to a selected page.
This update helps users navigate long PDFs more quickly, especially when they need to find a visual section, page layout, chart, image, or form page without scrolling page by page.

OneDrive: PDF annotation for sensitivity-label protected PDFs in the OneDrive apps (iOS and Android)
The Microsoft OneDrive apps for iOS and Android will let users annotate PDFs protected by a Microsoft Purview Information Protection sensitivity label that applies encryption — without removing or weakening the label. Users with edit/annotate rights can add a full set of annotations — including ink, highlight, free text, notes, signatures, image/shape/date stamps, bookmarks, and form fields — directly in the OneDrive mobile PDF viewer; the file’s encryption and usage rights are preserved end to end. This applies to the OneDrive apps for iOS and Android only (not OneDrive or SharePoint on the web). The feature is enabled by default for eligible users and requires no new admin action.

SharePoint: Create new workflows with Copilot in SharePoint
Describe a workflow intent such as “when files are set to status = Complete, post a message in my Teams chat” and Copilot in SharePoint will assemble the necessary triggers, conditions, and actions to setup your workflow. You can come back to Copilot in SharePoint at any time to make changes or click “Workflows” from the command bar to see your live workflow.

Microsoft Purview: Data Loss Prevention – User Based Aggregation of DLP Alerts

Microsoft Teams: New controls for quick views in the chat list
The new chats and channels experience introduced quick views at the top of the chat and channels list. These are views into mentions, followed threads and more. This update allows users to choose when and how these quick views are shown. Users will have options such as always show, always hide and show only when unread. Users will also be able to collapse the quick views section.

Microsoft Teams: Enhanced delegated calling with delegate call access restrictions and join notifications
Call delegation in Teams now includes new controls that give delegators greater privacy and control during active calls. Delegators can lock an ongoing call to prevent delegates from joining or resuming the call and can optionally enable warning tones that notify participants when a delegate joins or resumes a call.

Microsoft Teams: SharePoint app in Teams

Microsoft Teams: Modernized Gallery view in Teams Rooms on Android
The updated Gallery view in Teams Rooms on Android prioritizes video on the meeting stage, arranges participants in consistent aspect ratios, and minimizes movement of participant tiles on stage. Users can hide the room self-preview video and choose to see audio and video participants equally on stage, instead of prioritizing video participants. Admins can choose the default behavior using local device settings and the Pro Management portal.

Microsoft Purview: Insider Risk Management – Ability to preview content in Insider Risk Management Alerts
Insider Risk Management is excited to announce the ability to preview content directly within an IRM alert without having to create a case. Users with appropriate permissions will be able to preview relevant files referenced directly within activity explorer in each alert.
Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.

Outlook: Variable number of message preview lines
Outlook for Windows and Outlook for Web will now allow users to modify how the preview text for emails show in the message list. The preview text can now take up 2 lines, 1 whole line, or 0 additional lines.

Microsoft Teams: Open message links in new window
Teams now enables links within chat and channel messages to open in a new window, so you can compare information side by side without losing the context of your ongoing conversation. Access this capability through the More options menu or by using Ctrl/Cmd + click.
