Managing AI agents in the enterprise is evolving. Microsoft is expanding Purview Insider Risk Management to include AI agents, introducing dedicated risk indicators and scoring based on agent activity. This enhancement helps organizations detect and address insider risks, such as data leakage or security violations, while maintaining privacy. The update will begin rolling out in January 2026 for standard multi-tenant, GCC, GCC High, and DoD customers.

To govern and protect these agents effectively, Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management is being expanded to agents, with specific indicators and insider risk score built for agents based on agentic activities. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.

User-Based Aggregation consolidates DLP alerts by user identity i.e. a DLP rule violations, in a specified aggregation time window, of the same rule and single user will be aggregated into a single alert enabling quicker triage and remediation. Instead of reviewing alerts containing rule match events of multiple users, DLP admin can now analyze grouped DLP rule match events per user, gaining insights into repeated policy violations and anomalous behavior.
