Introducing a new feature to help manage unwanted emails! Users can now report emails as junk and unsubscribe if possible, reducing the overload on block lists. If unsubscribing isn’t available, blocking the sender remains an option. This feature will be accessible in July 2025 via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center Worldwide Standard Multitenant.

Microsoft 365 admin center: Usage reports – Copilot Chat – Usage intensity and new app coverage

The Copilot Chat usage report will include metrics on prompts submitted and expanded coverage across new host applications. Admins will now see total and average prompt counts at both tenant and user levels, along with user activity insights such as active days and last activity dates. Additionally, the report introduces visibility into Copilot Chat usage within Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote—enabling better tracking of adoption and engagement across these core Microsoft 365 apps. All metrics focus on unlicensed users and support export functionality for further analysis. User-level information is anonymized by default.

Microsoft Teams: Edit and manage Teams Town Hall instances in Outlook

Organizers and co-organizers can now easily edit the details of Teams Town Hall instances. A direct link to the Teams Town Hall edit page is now accessible from Outlook calendar. This enhancement brings the same seamless editing and registration management experience already available in webinar, bringing a consistent experience across all event types.

SharePoint: Text Editor Copilot ‘Refine’ update

SharePoint is updating the capabilities of its text editor Copilot. Now, you can not only use copilot to rewrite your existing text but also use it to keep writing or add a grounding document. By answering the question “what do you want copilot to change”, you can perform any number of refinements to your existing content.

Microsoft Purview Compliance Portal: Service health dashboard

As a Microsoft Purview user, you’ll be able to view outages, service issues, and advisories that might impact your services. This new dashboard will combine the services and solutions health of Purview, Microsoft 365 services, and Azure Cloud Services in one central place in the Purview portal, eliminating the need to go to several places to find this information.

Microsoft Entra: Improved Backup and Restore Experience for the Authenticator App on iOS

Users of the Microsoft Authenticator app on iOS will be able to back up account names including Microsoft work or school accounts, Microsoft personal accounts, and third-party accounts like Amazon or Google using iCloud and iCloud Keychain. This enables secure, end-to-end encrypted backup of account names and TOTP credentials. When setting up a new iOS device, account names will automatically appear in the app, and users can sign in to complete setup.

Microsoft Purview compliance portal: eDiscovery – Microsoft Purview eDiscovery – Guest access for export downloads

This feature allows external guest users to securely access and download export packages from Purview eDiscovery cases, with administrators able to set restrictions such as allowed IP addresses and token expiration to support secure external collaboration.

Microsoft 365 Admin Center: Setting to pin M365 Copilot app to Windows taskbar

This feature allows Global and Intune administrators to pin the M365 Copilot app to the Windows taskbar, providing users with easy access to M365 Copilot capabilities like Chat, Search, Agents, Notebooks and Create. This setting applies to all Intune-managed Windows 10 and 11 devices with the app installed.

SharePoint: Signed Adobe & Docusign documents saved to the originating folder

Documents signed via Adobe or DocuSign eSignature, when initiated through the SharePoint eSignature platform, will now be saved in the originating SharePoint folder instead of the default Apps folder. The originating folder is the folder where the starting document was located at the point of eSignature request initiation.

Microsoft Viva: News AI audio briefing in Connections Mobile

This feature provides an AI generated audio overview of top 10 news items in the Viva Connections news reader experience. It plays the 10 audio clips sequentially to help users catch up on top news in a hands-free manner. This experience will be available in the Viva Connections App in Teams mobile on iOS and android.

Immersive Search

After completing a search in Outlook, a user will see a Copilot entry point that will take them to an LLM generated summary of their search query (emails, Teams messages and documents) within their Copilot side pane. They will be able to interact further with Copilot to dig deeper into these results and take action items accordingly.

Microsoft Viva: Unread News Notifications in Connections

Users will receive a weekly notification in the Connections apps in Microsoft Teams on mobile and desktop linking them to relevant SharePoint news that they might have missed in the preceding week. This unread news will be available in the “News” tab in the Connections app under the “unread” pill.

Microsoft 365: SMTP onboarding to App Role Based Access Control

We’re simplifying how organizations grant applications permission to send email on behalf of mailboxes. Today, customers must manually assign permissions to each individual mailbox using PowerShell, which is time-consuming and inefficient. With this new capability, admins can assign the SMTP.SendAsApp role to an app through App Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), enabling group-based or scoped access to mailboxes. This eliminates the need for per-mailbox configuration and streamlines onboarding for SMTP clients using OAuth. It’s a scalable, secure, and modern approach to managing mailbox access for applications.

New PowerShell setting (SpeakerAttributionBYOD in csTeamsAIPolicy), enabled by default, gives IT admins more control over speaker attribution in BYOD (bring your own device) meeting rooms. This enhances the experience for users by enabling clear speaker labels and richer in-meeting and post-meeting insights with Microsoft 365 Copilot. Users just enroll profiles via Teams Settings to be recognized.

SharePoint: Improved processing status experience for Content AI models in SharePoint Online

We’re introducing a new activity pane in SharePoint Online to help users track and troubleshoot Content AI model processing. Starting with document translation and autofill, users will be able to view real-time status (in progress, completed, failed) for individual files, bulk selections, or the full library. Completed status will include enriched details like language codes, glossary usage, and column extraction counts. This new pane will eventually replace the current processing status column, providing a more consistent and actionable experience.

Microsoft Teams: Default Teams Calling global policy to enable users to transcribe or record calls

We’re updating the default global calling policy for new tenants to allow users to transcribe or record calls. Previously, these settings were turned off by default in the host global policy. With this update, recording and transcription will be enabled by default in the global calling policy for new tenants and existing tenants who have not modified the host global policy. This change will not impact existing custom policies or modified global policies. After this rollout, recording and transcription services will be more accessible to users, allowing them to turn on and use recording and transcription as needed during Teams calls. Neither recording nor transcription will be automatically enabled in Teams calls. This update is designed to broaden access to AI-powered features like Calls Recap and Calling Copilot, enhancing the overall calling experience. It also brings calling policy defaults in line with Teams meetings policies, where recording and transcription are already enabled by default.

Microsoft Teams: Usability and privacy improvements for live captions and live transcript in meetings

Introducing enhancements to live captions and live transcripts in Microsoft Teams to make meetings more intuitive, accessible, and privacy-focused. Live captions are now scrollable, allowing users to review past conversation with more flexibility and over a larger surface area. Next, copying captions is disabled by default to protect sensitive information and support compliance. Additionally, the live transcript panel won’t open automatically with features that trigger transcription like recording, giving users greater control over their layout. Lastly, If transcription is enabled, users who attempt to open the live transcript panel will see a banner suggesting they switch to live captions for real-time comprehension. These updates streamline the experience while supporting accessibility and privacy.

Outlook: Report junk + block or unsubscribe in one same action

We’re making it easier to keep your inbox clean and under control. Now, when you report an email as junk, you’ll also have the option to unsubscribe if that’s available. This helps stop unwanted messages at the source and keeps your blocked list from getting overloaded. If unsubscribing isn’t possible, you’ll still be able to block the sender to prevent future emails. This update gives you more control and a simpler way to manage unwanted messages.
