Microsoft Copilot will soon help mobile users prepare for meetings on-the-go. Copilot quickly prepares you for meetings within minutes by summarizing key information such as summaries of meeting-related emails and documents, your specific actionable tasks, and a recap of the previous meeting. This helps ensure you are well-prepared upon arrival. The feature update is schedule for July 2025 for commercial customers.

Microsoft Teams: Default Teams Calling global policy to enable users to transcribe or record calls
We’re updating the default global calling policy for new tenants to allow users to transcribe or record calls. Previously, these settings were turned off by default in the host global policy. With this update, recording and transcription will be enabled by default in the global calling policy for new tenants and existing tenants who have not modified the host global policy. This change will not impact existing custom policies or modified global policies. After this rollout, recording and transcription services will be more accessible to users, allowing them to turn on and use recording and transcription as needed during Teams calls. Neither recording nor transcription will be automatically enabled in Teams calls. This update is designed to broaden access to AI-powered features like Calls Recap and Calling Copilot, enhancing the overall calling experience. It also brings calling policy defaults in line with Teams meetings policies, where recording and transcription are already enabled by default.

Outlook: Create a meeting from an email thread with Copilot
Copilot makes it fast and easy to schedule a meeting from an email thread. When you use the Schedule with Copilot option, Copilot analyzes the email and creates a meeting invitation for you, filling in a meeting title and agenda, and adding the email thread as an attachment. The people on the email thread are included as meeting attendees, and you can quickly review the invitation, add or change info, and then send it out.

Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Upcoming Update to Audit Records for Microsoft Purview Role Group Changes
To improve clarity and transparency, we’re updating the audit data for events related to Microsoft Purview role group membership changes. This update affects audit events under the SecurityComplianceRBAC workload (RecordType 87), specifically for operations for GrantPermission, DeletePermission. While the audit schema remains unchanged, the PreExecutionMessage and PostExecutionMessage fields will be refined to better reflect the nature of the changes captured in the logs. Action Required: If your organization consumes these audit log events programmatically (e.g., via scripts or automation tools), please review and update your parsing logic to accommodate the enhanced message content. Rollout Timeline: This change will be rolled out starting in August. We recommend validating your systems against the updated message format as soon as it becomes available in your environment.

The updated metrics are available in both the Copilot Dashboard and the M365 Copilot Impact report in Advanced Insights, with additional query support for Intelligent Recap meeting metrics.

Microsoft Edge: Use Primary work profile as default profile to open external links
Microsoft Edge currently opens external links using the Last Used profile by default. While for enterprise users, the Primary Work Profile (signed in with a Microsoft Entra ID for enrolling the device) is normally the best profile for opening external links. With this feature, for Windows, Edge will check if it the Primary Work Profile exists and make it the default profile for opening external links if available. For Mac and Linux, if only one work profile signed in with a Microsoft Entra ID account is found, it’s treated as the Primary Work Profile. Admins can config the policy EdgeOpenExternalLinksWithPrimaryWorkProfileEnabled to turn this feature off.
