Teams Audit Events for Meetings will soon be available in GCC. This enhancement will provide administrators with comprehensive insights into meeting activities, helping to ensure compliance and improve operational efficiency. Microsoft Purview Audit logs offer administrators the ability to search, filter, and export audit data for detailed analysis. These logs are essential for maintaining compliance, investigating incidents, and ensuring the security of Teams activities. The update is coming in June 2025 for GCC environments.

SharePoint: Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Backfill for SharePoint Sites

We are thrilled to announce a powerful new feature that allows tenant admins to select an existing SharePoint Online (SPO) site and backfill OCR for documents already present in the library. This means you no longer need to move all your documents to a new site to ensure they are OCRed and protected.

We plan to release a private preview at end of May, if you would like to enable this feature please reach out the feature team and we will enable the feature on your tenant.

Only files without OCR will be processed, ensuring efficient use of resources and preventing double charges for unchanged documents. This update streamlines your workflow, making it easier to manage and protect your documents.

Microsoft Teams: Live transcription on Teams Rooms on Windows

You can control live transcription (start, stop, restart) during a meeting from a Team Rooms on Windows device. The real-time transcript includes each speaker’s name and timestamp. You can also change settings including the spoken language, the translated language, and whether the original and translated transcript would show side by side. This feature is available in Teams Rooms Pro.

Microsoft Teams: Meeting organizers can enable transcription in multilingual meetings (Copilot and Teams Premium)

We’re introducing a new organizer-level control that no longer requires all meetings to have one common spoken language to be set across all participants. Meeting organizers with Copilot or Teams Premium licenses will see a new control in meeting options called ‘Enable multilingual speech recognition.’When this is enabled before a meeting, each meeting participant will be able to set their own spoken language during the meeting, and the meeting transcript can accurately reflect each participant’s language of choice.

Microsoft Teams: Copilot in Teams meetings responses can be exported to Word and Excel

Now, certain responses from Copilot in Teams meetings will have an option to edit in Word or Excel. The edit in option for Word will be available for Copilot responses that are long (more than 1300 characters) and will automatically open a Word document with the response written. The edit in option for Excel will be available for Copilot responses that are formatted in a table, and will automatically open an Excel file with the formatted response added. Copilot responses can only be exported if the meeting policy for the meeting is set to allow copying or forwarding of meeting chat, live captions, transcript, and Copilot responses. The export capability will also inherit the sensitivity label of the meeting (sensitivity labels are available to Teams Premium users).

Microsoft Teams: Teams Button Support on Multiple Connected Peripheral Devices

You can now use the Teams button across peripheral devices without having to manually select a specific device in the Teams devices settings. This ensures a more seamless experience navigating across multiple certified for Microsoft Teams personal peripheral USB devices (with a wire or a dongle) connected to the same host device (such as your laptop). For example, you can use the Teams button on headset A to bring up the meeting pre-join screen, then use the Teams button on headset B to join the meeting, and then use the Teams button on your connected speakerphone to raise hand in the meeting, etc.

To make finding browser settings more efficient, Microsoft Edge is introducing three navigation improvements to Edge Settings. We are making no changes to the functionality of any setting and all settings will remain on the same page as they are today but will be behind clickable sections. The first is introducing quick access to the most used actions on the landing page of Edge Settings.
