Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Insider Risk Management – Microsoft Fabric risk indicators in Insider Risk Management
With this update, Insider Risk Management extends its risk detection capabilities to Microsoft Fabric products by offering ready-to-use risk indicators based on activities that may lead to a data security incident in Power BI. Organizations can use these new indicators in data theft and data leaks policies. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.

Dynamics 365 Field Service: Keep Project Staffing and Field Service Scheduling Aligned
Deliver consistent scheduling outcomes across Dynamics 365 Project Operations and Field Service, regardless of where scheduling begins. When a project task includes resource assignments and planned effort, that demand is represented on the related work order with the same role, resource, duration, and scheduling window. Users can therefore schedule the same demand from either application and receive consistent availability and booking results. When multiple assignments exist, dispatchers can select the specific requirement they want to schedule. When a project task does not provide assignment- or duration-based demand, the incident type on the work order continues to define the scheduling requirement. This flexibly supports an organization’s scheduling needs, whether project-task-driven or incident-type-driven.

Dynamics 365 Business Central: Expense Agent – Create expense reports per trip automatically
Expense Agent can automatically create expense reports based on identified business trips. You just need to configure the feature on the Expense Agent Setup page. Instead of manually collecting and organizing individual expense entries, you can use the agent to group relevant expenses and generate a dedicated expense report for each trip. Key capabilities include: Administrators can specify whether the company wants to group expenses by trip and not only by period. Automated expense report creation without requiring you to manually start and organize reports after a travel requisition is approved. Automatic trip-based expense grouping associates eligible expenses with the correct business trip based on information in the travel requisition. The agent automatically groups not only expenses based on the location, but uses intelligence to group all expenses based on the context. Non-trip related expenses keep existing period-based grouping in expense reports.

Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365): Enable semantic model in Sales agent
Semantic model helps Sales Agent understand the structure and meaning of an organization’s CRM data. It creates a connected representation of CRM metadata, including tables or objects, fields, descriptions, data types, relationships, views, pick-list values, and glossary terms. Sales Agent can retrieve this context when responding to questions, improving its ability to interpret business language and answer complex questions that span related CRM records. Dynamics 365 admins can enable and turn on semantic model in Power Apps Maker Portal and configure the data coverage and signals that Sales Agent should use. Dynamics 365 Business Central: Ecommerce – [US] Match Shopify tax lines to tax jurisdictions
Business Value Reduce repetitive tax setup when you import Shopify orders that contain multiple United States tax jurisdictions. Shopify Tax Matching suggests how free-text tax lines map to configured tax jurisdictions and keeps you in control of exceptions before you create sales documents. Details The Shopify Tax Matching capability is available in public preview for organizations in the United States that use the Shopify connector. When standard tax-area mapping doesn’t resolve an imported order, the capability uses AI to suggest tax jurisdictions based on Shopify tax-line titles and rates, configured tax jurisdictions, and limited ship-to location information. You can review each suggestion, confidence level, explanation, and rate before approving the final mapping. Configure which matches require review and whether the capability can create missing tax jurisdictions and tax areas. Unidentified jurisdictions and rate differences always require review. Shopify Tax Matching maps imported tax descriptions to tax setup. It doesn’t calculate tax, determine tax liability, file tax returns, or replace professional tax advice.

Dynamics 365 Commerce: Streamline pickup order workflows in Store Commerce
Business Value Trade counter pickups should be fast. When a business customer arrives to collect prepaid or pre-authorized orders, routing them through unnecessary screens and payment steps slows down the process. When customers want to add extra items during pickup, requiring a separate transaction introduces friction that can result in missed sales. This feature reshapes the pickup experience to better align with trade counter operations. Associates can collect multiple orders in a single action, add extra items within the same transaction, and capture the pickup person’s name and signature for audit purposes. For orders that aren’t collected, the ability to unpick lines and release inventory helps prevent stock from being held unnecessarily. Together, these improvements save time per transaction, reduce payment friction, and provide B2B operations with the audit trail they require. Feature Details Quick pickup operation: A new Quick pickup operation lets associates pick one or more orders or order lines for a single customer without navigating to the transaction screen. It is available when: The customer is set up to pay on account. The order is fully paid or authorized. Pickup dialog enhancements: The pickup dialog includes a Pickup all action to select all eligible lines in one step, along with barcode scanning to confirm quantities. Completing the pickup invoices the selected order lines and captures any open payment authorization. Adding carryout items during checkout pickup: During the checkout to pickup flow, associates can add additional carryout items to the transaction. A single payment covers both the new items and any remaining balance, so the customer isn’t required to complete a separate transaction. Signature and name capture: For B2B scenarios where pickups often occur without a card payment, associates can capture the pickup person’s name and signature. This information is applied to all orders selected in the same pickup session and is stored for audit purposes. Unpicking order lines: When a customer doesn’t collect goods, associates can unpick staged order lines. This action allows the order to be canceled and returns reserved inventory to available stock.

Dynamics 365 Contact Center: Unified routing – Use overflow actions to protect customer experience for direct inward calls
Overflow for direct inward dialing leverages conversation orchestration to detect key direct inward dialing-related events—such as the representative being busy, offline, rejecting the call, or failing to answer—and apply administrator-defined fallback actions. Administrators configure natural language playbooks using conversation orchestration at the global or inbound profile level to specify the action to run when a direct inward dialed call can’t be attended to or completed. The actions include offering a direct callback to the caller, sending them to voicemail, transferring the call to another queue or external number, or ending the call.

Microsoft Purview: Endpoint Data Loss Prevention-View-only access to device onboarding with the View-Only Device Management role
Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention is introducing more granular, role-based access to the Devices page under Settings → Device Onboarding. Previously, viewing or managing device onboarding required broad administrative roles (such as Compliance Administrator, Global Administrator, or Security Administrator). With this update, organizations can grant access using least-privilege Purview role-based access control (RBAC) roles scoped specifically to device operations. A new View-Only Device Management role enables users, such as auditors or security analysts, to view device onboarding status, search for devices, review configuration details, and export device data, without granting permission to change onboarding configuration or other administrative settings. Existing administrative roles continue to have full access, so current workflows are unaffected. This change helps organizations follow the principle of least privilege and simplifies granting read-only visibility into device onboarding without over-provisioning permissions.

Dynamics 365 Commerce: Author Commerce receipt formats with Copilot Cowork
Use natural language in Copilot Cowork to create, update, translate, and check Commerce receipt layouts using existing formats in headquarters. The Commerce receipt format designer skill lets authorized users work with receipt layouts through natural-language requests in Copilot Cowork, using receipt configuration in Dynamics 365 Commerce headquarters. It applies to receipt formats used by Store Commerce point of sale (POS). Users can: Create and adapt formats: Start from an existing format in the modern Receipt designer representation, create a new format, or request changes to an existing target. Edit receipt sections: Modify header, line, and footer content, field positions, alignment, and supported formatting. Translate and personalize content: Translate static labels and add user-supplied text while preserving dynamic fields. Missing business details are identified rather than invented. Check layouts without changing them: Request structural or geometry checks that identify overlaps, width violations, and truncation risks, with findings and suggested remediation. Verify saved changes: Review the resulting format and changes, with saved configuration re-read to confirm the requested update. Creating a format from a source preserves that source. The skill is available automatically to authorized Copilot Cowork users. Users describe the source format and desired outcome, resolve any source or target ambiguity, and review the results. A Commerce administrator ensures appropriate headquarters access and that the source format is available in the modern structured representation. Structural checks do not establish visual appearance, barcode scanability, runtime values, or legal and fiscal compliance. Users review the layout in the Receipt designer and perform appropriate test printing before operational use. Assigning formats to receipt profiles or printers and printing or reprinting transactions are separate setup and operational workflows.

Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys: Improve engagement and message timing with Outreach Optimization Agent
Add the Outreach Optimization Agent to your journey, select the emails you want delivered, and let the agent handle timing and cadence automatically. With Outreach Optimization Agent, you can: Start with an intelligent baseline: Outreach Optimization Agent automatically creates a baseline messaging plan for your audience by analyzing overall historical engagement patterns, producing a smart, generic plan that is designed to work well for most customers before any individual optimization kicks in. Listen to incoming interactions and adapt the plan in real time: The agent continuously monitors incoming signals, including engagement and non-responsiveness, and adjusts follow-up timing and cadence, or exits the plan based on whether the goal is progressing or has been achieved. Respect quiet times: The agent enforces quiet time settings as a hard constraint, ensuring that messages are never sent outside approved communication windows, even if engagement data suggests otherwise. Scenario A global retail brand uses Outreach Optimization Agent in a seasonal campaign to re-engage customers. Unlike previous efforts with fixed schedules and repeated reminders, the agent creates a smart baseline plan, then adjusts message timing for each customer based on their engagement. It slows or stops follow-ups when customers show interest and spaces out reminders for unresponsive customers, all while respecting quiet times and consent. This leads to better engagement and less message fatigue, with minimal manual intervention.

Dynamics 365 Project Operations: View resolved prices in a consolidated pricing view
A new Pricing tab appears on the contract (and later the quote) and becomes the default pricing surface, replacing the Project Price List tab. Instead of listing only the price lists apply, it displays a consolidated grid of the prices that actually default for each pricing-dimension combination and date. You switch between price types, labor/role, category, and material, with a view picker, and role-price markups appear within the role view. A Date filter defaults to today and updates the grid to reflect date-effective overrides, and a Date effectivity column shows the date range each price is effective for. A Scope filter is set and locked automatically by the host record (Contract, Quote, Customer, Vendor purchase prices, or Org-unit cost prices). You can filter and sort across the pricing dimensions; grouping and frozen columns are not included in this release. Behind the grid, a unified query unions the Role Price and Date-Effective Price Overrides tables, de-duplicated and scoped to the price lists attached to the contract, and accounts for overrides at both the contract and associated customer levels. How to enable: The Pricing tab appears automatically on the contract form once the feature is deployed and enabled via the feature control menu. Because the new tab replaces the Project Price List tab as the primary surface, review any customizations or automation built against the existing tab before you adopt it. The price lists associated with the contract or quote will now be shown on the summary tab.

Dynamics 365 Project Operations: Extend price overrides to category and material
Project Operations price lists support three price types — role, expense category, and product/material — but only role prices currently support date-effective overrides. This feature extends date-effective price overrides to expense category and material prices, so you can schedule a future or time-bound price change for a category or material the same way you do for a role, without creating a separate, context-specific price list. The system honors the override when it prices a transaction, so the effective price reflects the override in force on the transaction date. The feature also aligns other points where the three price types diverge where feasible, with date-effective overrides as the primary deliverable. Unit-group conversions for category and material, custom pricing dimensions for category and material, and full time-phasing of prices are not included in this release. How to enable: You configure overrides on the price list, the same way you set role-price overrides today, so pricing administrators and makers manage all three price types in one place. Overrides are stored in the existing Date-Effective Price Overrides table, so the feature is expected to reuse that mechanism; review any plug-ins or default pricing logic for category and material before you adopt it.

Dynamics 365 Contact Center: Unified routing – Orchestrate conversation distribution with natural language playbooks
Conversation orchestration in Dynamics 365 Contact Center keeps every conversation actively managed throughout its lifecycle, from initiation through resolution. Instead of applying fixed rules at different stages of a conversation journey, conversation orchestration monitors each conversation as conditions evolve, like wait time increases, fast-filling queues, or service representatives going offline, and responds automatically with the right action. For example, administrators can define the intent using natural-language playbooks as follows: “If a premium customer waits for more than three minutes and no senior agents are available, increase their priority and offer a callback.” Conversation orchestration then handles how it’s run in real time. You can configure playbooks per scenario through guided templates that keep instructions focused and reliable. Built-in validation catches conflicts before anything goes live, so that you confidently publish changes without needing to test every edge case manually. The key capabilities are as follows: Dynamic priority escalation: In traditional systems, conversation priority is typically set once, at entry, and never revisited. This means a customer who has been waiting for 10 minutes competes for the same expert as another customer who has just arrived, and a conversation that’s transferred mid-journey resets to whatever the new queue’s default priority is. Dynamic priority escalation fixes this by continuously re-evaluating priority as the conversation progresses. You define the conditions such as wait time thresholds, queue transfers, customer tier, or other context and conversation orchestration adjusts priority automatically throughout the conversation lifecycle. High-value or long-waiting customers move forward without anyone watching the queue manually. Overflow handling across multiple conditions: Conversation orchestration supports a broader set of business triggered overflow conditions, allowing organizations to respond intelligently as queue conditions change. Administrators can define actions when a queue is outside operating hours, when all representatives in a queue are signed out or unavailable, when queue wait time exceeds a defined threshold, or when the number of waiting conversations surpasses a specified limit. Depending on the situation, orchestration can automatically offer callbacks, route conversations to alternate queues, expand assignment eligibility, notify supervisors, or deliver contextual customer messages. This ensures customers are never left waiting without a defined path forward. Admins can also configure overflow handling for direct inward dial calls now, when reps are not available or don’t accept the calls. Assign to a previously engaged or preferred representative: Customers often need to repeat information when they are connected to a new representative for every interaction. Conversation orchestration helps maintain continuity by reconnecting customers with previously engaged or preferred representatives whenever possible. Assignment decisions take into account historical interactions, queue membership alignment, representative availability, and workload capacity. For asynchronous conversations, organizations can choose to honor representative presence status and active conversation limits before reconnecting customers, ensuring returning conversations are assigned only when the preferred representative has capacity to engage. When the preferred or previously engaged representative is unavailable, conversations seamlessly fall back to the next best qualified representative. This reduces customer effort, improves resolution efficiency, and delivers a more personalized support experience. Bullseye routing: Finding the right representative often requires balancing expertise with response times. Bullseye routing enables organizations to gradually expand the pool of eligible representatives when a conversation isn’t assigned within a defined timeframe. Administrators can define progressive routing rings that begin with the most qualified representatives and then expand to broader groups based on skills, proficiency levels, teams, or other business criteria. This approach maximizes the likelihood of connecting customers with the best-qualified representative while ensuring conversations don’t wait indefinitely for a specific resource. These capabilities are the first in a broad and growing set of orchestration scenarios that conversation orchestration will support across the full conversation lifecycle, spanning overflow management, priority handling, assignment strategies, in-conversation messaging, and escalation. Each new capability builds on the same natural-language playbook foundation, so organizations can adopt new scenarios without rebuilding what they have already configured. Business Value: Traditional automatic conversation distribution systems rely on complex rules and static configuration that are difficult to maintain and can’t adapt as conditions change throughout the conversation lifecycle. Unified routing with its new AI-powered conversation orchestration uses the power of agentic AI to continuously monitor events throughout the entire conversation lifecycle and responds with the right action when required. This is a shift from a static system to an orchestration layer that remains active and intelligent from the moment a conversation arrives in a queue until it’s resolved. The new feature reduces administrative complexity and helps deliver more flexible customer experiences at scale, even under fluctuating demand. Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys: Elevate customer experiences – Boost customer confidence with branded content links
With branded content links, you can: Set up your vanity link (or custom link) in the domain authenticator. Once authenticated, your vanity domain will be visible in: All links in your emails. Hosted digital assets, forms, event registration pages, and your preference center. Scenario A retail brand launches a holiday campaign featuring special bundles and limited‑time offers. Instead of using long, generic tracking URLs, the team enables branded content links. Every email now displays clean, trustworthy links using the company’s own domain. Customers feel more confident clicking through, resulting in higher engagement and improved conversion rates across the campaign. Business Value: Links are the gateway to your landing pages, offers, and content. However, automatically generated URLs look unprofessional and suspicious, and they can lower your click rates and conversions. Now you can customize links to show your company name, increasing customers’ trust and improving brand recognition and campaign performance. Dynamics 365 Finance: Globalization Studio – Unified e‑invoicing integration framework
The unified extensible e-invoicing integration framework extends the existing Electronic Invoicing service by introducing: A unified outbound and inbound document model (based on international standards such as UBL and PEPPOL). A standardized submission and response pipeline and API for e-invoicing documents and related statuses. A clear extensibility model that allows external ASPs, ISVs, Microsoft partners, and customers to implement their own integrations without requiring Microsoft to build or maintain provider specific connectors. With this framework, Microsoft defines the data (format) contract, integration pattern, and lifecycle handling, while external e-invoicing ASPs (for example, PDPs, PAs, or PACs) implement the required endpoints and data transformations on their side. This approach enables: Support for multiple service providers under a consistent integration model. Faster onboarding of new providers and markets. Reduced vendor lock-in for customers. Better alignment with country-specific regulatory requirements without Microsoft acting as an authorized e-invoicing service provider. Important clarifications (out of scope): This feature does not make Microsoft an Authorized Service Provider (ASP / PDP / PA / PAC, PEPPOL access point). The feature does not include built‑in connectivity to e‑invoicing providers. Customers must continue to use third‑party e‑invoicing providers for “last‑mile” submission to tax authorities or clearance platforms. Integration with a specific ASP is the responsibility of the provider, customer, or ISV, using the established integration framework. In the initial phase, Microsoft defines the data contract and API specification and supports these in Dynamics 365 ERP and Electronic invoicing service. Microsoft collaborates with a selected set of ASPs to build integrations using this standard data contract and API specification, and to validate the integrations for a subset of countries or regions. Customers will be able to choose from these providers based on their countries or regions of operation and configure the integrations within their ERP environments. Moving forward, we will be: Extending the coverage by adding more countries or regions; and Engaging with more ASPs and ISVs to expand the ecosystem. Business Value: This feature introduces a unified, extensible integration framework for the Electronic invoicing service in Dynamics 365 Finance, Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, and Dynamics 365 Project Operations, enabling Authorized Service Providers (ASPs), Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), and Microsoft partners and customers to build and maintain their own integrations between the e-invoicing service and external e‑invoicing platforms using a Microsoft‑defined unified format (data contract) and integration pipeline / API. The framework is designed to decouple ERP from any single e‑invoicing provider, giving customers more flexibility in ASP choice while reducing the need for Microsoft‑built, country‑specific formats and “last‑mile” connectors. Dynamics 365 Field Service: Optimize resource scheduling – Optimize schedules with Scheduling Operations Agent
Dispatchers often spend considerable time and energy reviewing and adjusting each technician’s schedule as conditions change throughout the workday: A technician has one or more cancellations in the afternoon. To fill the open slots, what requirements optimally keep promise windows, prefer high-priority work, and locate work around the same neighborhoods that the technician is due to travel to? A technician is running over the planned time for the current booking. As a result, they’re late for the next booking, and the delay might cascade to subsequent bookings. How do you best adjust the bookings for the remainder of the day? A technician recovers from illness sooner than expected and is now available for work earlier than planned. What’s the best way to schedule work for them when they return? A technician’s schedule contains a lot of low-priority work that isn’t due for weeks. How can you improve the schedule with work that better meets desired business goals? A technician’s schedule for the day is built manually or with the schedule assistant. How can you rearrange the schedule so that the resource’s travel time is reduced? In each case, the dispatcher needs to assess the situation, determine which business goals apply, and then update the schedule manually, one booking at a time. With this release of the Scheduling Operations Agent, dispatchers can ask Copilot to provide the best schedule for the affected technician. Within seconds, the dispatcher gets a suggested schedule for review and can apply the updates. You can direct Copilot to optimize for the business goal you want, such as maximizing technician usage or work order priority. Copilot intelligently chooses among existing bookings and new unfulfilled work orders based on factors like skillset match, territories, and customer promise windows. Users can access the feature from the Copilot side pane anywhere within the Dynamics 365 Field Service application. Business Value: The Scheduling Operations Agent for Dynamics 365 Field Service enables dispatchers to quickly and easily optimize schedules for technicians as conditions change throughout the workday, so they can significantly improve their productivity. Dispatchers can ask Copilot to optimize schedules and address issues such as traffic delays, double bookings, or last-minute cancellations that often result in conflicts, gaps, or idle time in a technician’s schedule. Instruct Copilot to achieve the desired business objective, such as maximizing technician usage or work order priority while considering factors like skillset match, territories, and promised time windows. Microsoft Dataverse: Enable AI powered business workflows in Work IQ with Dataverse – Build Dataverse solutions with coding agents using Dataverse skills
Build Dataverse solutions by using coding agents with natural language prompts. For example, “I’m building a recruiting system for Zava Construction. I need tables for Positions, Candidates, Interviewers, Interviews, and Feedback – with lookups, a many-to-many relationship between Candidates and Positions, and a self-referential interview chain. Create everything in a Zava Recruiting solution, load sample data, and show me which candidates are currently interviewing.” From this prompt, the agent autonomously: Discovers your Dataverse environment and configures MCP. Creates the solution by using the Microsoft Power Platform CLI. Builds five tables with choice columns, lookups, and a many-to-many relationship. Dynamics 365 Business Central: Copilot and agents – Use AI resources for your Copilot extensions
Using the AI resources provides several benefits: Reduced operational overhead: Avoid the need to handle infrastructure management, updates, monitoring, troubleshooting, or maintenance of custom Azure OpenAI subscriptions. This benefit frees up resources to focus on core business operations and provides value-adding intellectual property (IP) to customers. Simplified onboarding: Quickly integrate AI capabilities into your solutions without having to navigate the complexities of setting up and managing your own Azure OpenAI subscription. Improved reliability: Proactive scaling, throttling, load balancing, and fault tolerance measures ensure consistent performance during peak demand. Enhanced security compliance: Built-in compliance measures and governance, including robust protection from malicious and harmful content, ensure compliance with data residency requirements. This benefit reduces the burden of ensuring regulatory compliance for ISVs. Streamlined experience for customers: Customers get a seamless AI resource management process without maintaining different configurations for separate ISV solutions. This capability also provides a cohesive AI consumption tracking and billing experience for Business Central customers. Customers who use AI resources across multiple AI-enabled solutions built with Business Central customer developer tools for Copilot benefit from a unified approach to AI consumption monitoring and invoicing. They don’t need to reconcile multiple invoices or metrics from separate ISVs. For details on billing costs, see AI tools at Message scenarios. For most publishers, the default Business Central AI resources are enough. However, if you need specific models, including fine-tuned models, that the Business Central AI resources don’t provide, you can bring your own subscription for customers. In this case, the publisher is responsible for deploying, maintaining, scaling, and securing the service. The publisher also handles billing AI resources to customers. We recommend using the developer toolkit AI resources when you extend Copilot in Business Central. You just need to authenticate with the SetManagedResourceAuthorization method in the AI Module AzureOpenAI codeunit. You also provide your own Azure OpenAI subscription details, but the authentication process doesn’t use them. (Update 2026 release wave 1: There’s now a new method signature for SetManagedResources that doesn’t require you to provide your subscription details anymore. You should use that going forward.)
// Example of using the default toolkit AI resources in AL AzureOpenAI.SetManagedResourceAuthorization(Enum::"AOAI Model Type"::"Chat Completions",AzureOpenAIAccountName,AzureOpenAIApiKey,AOAIDeployments.GetGPT4oLatest());
To use your own subscription, authenticate it with the SetAuthorization method.
// Example of using your own Azure OpenAI subscription in AL AzureOpenAI.SetAuthorization(Enum::"AOAI Model Type"::"Chat Completions",GetEndpoint(),GetDeployment(),GetApiKey());
This AI billing model isn’t designed to replace the existing Marketplace monetization pathway for publishers who create Business Central apps. Instead, it offers another option that simplifies AI consumption for customers and partners. ISVs can use the Marketplace monetization option to monetize their IP. Business Value: A key feature of the developer tools for Copilot in Business Central is that publishers in their Marketplace apps use large language models through Microsoft-managed Azure OpenAI resources when they extend Copilot in Business Central. This approach eliminates the need for customers to independently get and manage Azure OpenAI subscriptions. Using the Business Central AI resources is the default and recommended approach. However, some partners or customers might have special requirements that require them to use their own Azure OpenAI subscription when running the feature in production or when developing and testing in sandboxes, which is also supported in the developer tools for Copilot in Business Central. Dynamics 365 Business Central: Copilot and agents – Envision and design AI agents in Business Central
AI agents in Business Central Business Central introduces AI agents to help users automate repetitive tasks and make business processes more intelligent and efficient. These agents act as specialized assistants that understand context, handle structured data, and collaborate with users to complete end-to-end workflows. For example, the Sales Order Agent simplifies order creation by transforming natural language or email instructions into complete sales documents, while the Payables Agent streamlines vendor invoice processing by extracting key details from incoming invoices and matching them to purchase orders—all reducing manual effort and freeing users to focus on higher-value work. The agent runtime that powers these built-in agents provides core capabilities that enable the use of agentic AI within Business Central. AI agents are defined, configured, activated, and run directly inside the familiar Business Central environment—leveraging the same security model, administration tools, and user experience as the rest of the product. Results are displayed in-context, with intuitive navigation to related data and entities, allowing users to control the agents through the interface they already know. This consistency dramatically reduces the learning curve, builds trust, and ensures efficiency when working with AI agents. The agent runtime ensures that every step taken by an agent is traceable and operates strictly within the access boundaries (permissions) assigned during configuration. It provides a timeline view of all agent activities, allowing users to review what happened and why—enabling a true human-in-the-loop experience. The runtime can also memorize relevant data during execution, use it in subsequent steps, and request additional instructions in natural language when user input is needed. It helps ensure that sensitive operations always require explicit user review and consent, supporting full transparency and control. Business Central business processes are inherently multistep, stateful, and financially consequential. The agent layer must be able to interact with a broad set of ERP capabilities and data, sequence operations with a high degree of accuracy across dependent steps, handle the data respecting permissions, company, environment, and tenant boundaries, provide a contextual audit trail, and keep humans in the loop. Business Central agentic strategy intentionally separates deep, well controlled, in-context and transparent execution within the product from cross-system orchestration. Business Central agents form the foundational layer inside the product, exposing well-defined agent capabilities that in the future will be possible to surface as MCP tools and consume by Declarative Agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio and Microsoft 365. This layered approach enables Business Central-tuned, transparent, managed execution at the ERP core processes, while allowing higher-level Declarative Agents to orchestrate end-to-end business processes across products. Designing agents The new in-product experience for designing agents that automate Business Central processes is made available with AI Development Toolkit for Business Central. The experience offers a low-risk environment for envisioning and prototyping new AI agents tailored to your own business scenarios—extending the same agent runtime capabilities used by built-in Business Central agents. Built for rapid iteration, the designing experience lets you create and refine custom agents using natural language instructions, define their behavior, test agent profiles and permissions, and safely experiment with Business Central data in a sandbox environment. This approach empowers partner personas like consultants, product owners, and domain experts, as well as developers and even power users, to explore new scenarios, validate ideas, and build confidence in their agents before moving to production. Whether you aim to automate repetitive business processes, streamline data processing, or deliver proactive insights, the agent design experience gives you the tools to bring your vision to life. Agent instructions At the core of every agent are its goals and instructions, defined in natural language. Writing agent instructions is similar to writing prompts for large language models, so you can apply general prompt-writing best practices—and even use tools like Copilot to optimize them. The agent design experience includes a simple editor to help you define, refine, and test these instructions efficiently. Invoking your agent You can invoke your agent by manually creating a task for it. When doing so, you can include an additional message that provides specific details or context to complement the agent’s core instructions. Although the ability to design your own agents is in public preview, there aren’t yet any built-in integrations to automatically trigger these custom agents based on incoming emails, events, or scheduled recurrences (this can be done by professional developers using the APIs available in the AI Development Toolkit). However, you can simulate these scenarios by including the email header and body in the task message to mimic incoming emails, or by manually triggering the agent to emulate event, UI action, or time-based runs. Troubleshooting When running the agent tasks in the designing experience, you can access detailed diagnostic views to help you understand and tune the agent execution. Since an agent’s decisions depend on its instructions, available data, and language model reasoning, you can review execution logs to see its inputs, reasoning process, and outputs. This helps you identify where uncertainty occurred and why specific decisions were made to adjust your agent instructions. Importing and exporting agents To make it easy to back up or move custom agents across sandbox environments, the in-product experience allows you to import and export agent definitions. These definitions are stored as simple JSON files containing properties such as agent identity, instructions, assigned profiles, and permissions. We recommend storing these files in a source control system like GitHub to track changes and maintain version history. Responsible AI Agents built using the agent design experience adhere to Microsoft’s Responsible AI principles, helping you ensure agent compliance, fairness, and safety. Billing As with the built-in Sales Order and Payables agents, custom agents consume Copilot credits as they perform their steps. Credits can be provisioned through prepaid or pay-as-you-go models, providing flexible cost management as your AI usage scales. Business Value: Agents in Business Central are AI-powered team assistants that go beyond traditional automation. Unlike static workflows or hard-coded AL logic, agents can interpret high-level business goals expressed in natural language and translate them into actionable steps. They reason over Business Central data, make informed decisions within defined boundaries, and collaborate with users through human-in-the-loop approvals for critical operations. The benefits are substantial: agents reduce manual effort by automating repetitive or complex tasks, allowing users to focus on higher-value activities. They adapt to dynamic business scenarios that can’t always be anticipated during development, offering flexibility that traditional automation lacks. Most importantly, agents operate transparently: every action is logged, permissions are rigorously enforced, and users remain in control at all times. This combination of intelligence, adaptability, and accountability makes agents a cornerstone of the next generation of ERP experiences. With the agent design experience, we’re taking the first steps toward enabling you to build your own custom Business Central agents. Enabled for: Enabled by admins/makers/marketers for end users

Dynamics 365 Contact Center: Workforce engagement management – Manage overnight shifts as a single continuous schedule
Supervisors can now create and manage overnight shifts that span across midnight while maintaining a single continuous shift experience. Shift plans support start and end times that extend into the next day, allowing organizations to accurately model overnight operations such as contact centers, support teams, healthcare services, and other 24×7 environments. Activities, breaks, meals, and ad-hoc work can be scheduled anywhere within the overnight shift and remain part of a single continuous itinerary. Supervisors can view and manage the entire shift without manually splitting schedules across calendar days. Activities that cross midnight are preserved as a single record and are not divided into separate activities. The system maintains a consistent ownership model where the shift belongs to the day on which it starts. Paid hours, schedule ownership, adherence calculations, and related scheduling behaviors continue to follow the shift-start day, providing predictable scheduling outcomes regardless of how the shift is displayed. When viewing schedules across multiple shift plans, overnight shifts are displayed within the standard daily schedule view. When viewing an individual shift plan, supervisors can see the full overnight shift as a single continuous work session, making it easier to manage overnight operations and understand employee schedules. Business Value: Support 24×7 operations. Eliminate workarounds that require splitting shifts across days. Improve migration readiness from Verint, Genesys, NICE, UKG, and Calabrio.
