Azure-based solution unlocks information trapped in scanned records, PDFs, and forms to help accelerate productivity, improve customer responsiveness, and deliver citizen services faster.
GAITHERSBURG, Md. — October 23, 2026 — Planet Technologies (Planet) today announced the launch of its Azure Document Intelligence Accelerator, designed to help organizations unlock valuable information trapped in scanned documents, PDFs, forms, and other unstructured content and make it available for today’s decisions, services, and business processes.
Organizations have spent decades accumulating information in contracts, case files, correspondence, procurement records, and applications. Even when those records are stored electronically, employees may still need to open documents individually, locate relevant details, and manually re-enter information into another system. That work can delay the processes that drive productivity, customer responsiveness, and citizen services.
Planet’s accelerator uses Microsoft Azure AI Document Intelligence to extract text and relevant information, producing searchable text, searchable PDFs, or structured data for use by people, applications, workflows, analytics, and AI tools.
“This is ultimately about getting to the outcome faster,” said Steve Winter, President of Planet Technologies. “For a business, that can mean accelerating revenue and responding to customers faster. For government, it can mean delivering citizen services faster and being more responsive to the people they serve. We’re unlocking information organizations already have so they can put it to work today.”
From Digitized Records to Decision-Ready Data
Scanning a document solves the physical storage problem. It does not necessarily solve the information problem. For example, a permitting office may hold years of scanned applications while employees still manually locate applicant names, addresses, and permit types. The accelerator can make those records searchable and extract selected fields into structured data, reducing the work required to prepare information for downstream processes.
The same approach can support commercial processes such as customer onboarding, transactions, approvals, and contract review. Across sectors, the objective is to get the right information into the process sooner so the organization can get to the outcome sooner.
Historical records can also become more accessible for reporting, analysis, automation, and AI initiatives, extending the value of institutional knowledge organizations already possess.
Built in the Customer’s Microsoft Azure Environment
Planet configures and deploys the accelerator around each organization’s documents, required information, and intended use within its Microsoft Azure environment. Documents and extracted information can remain within that environment, with access, security, and governance requirements defined for the selected use case.
Planet focuses on where inaccessible information creates friction in an important business or mission process and where making it usable can accelerate a measurable outcome.
Start with the Information You Already Own
Organizations can begin with a Planet Document Intelligence Assessment to identify high-value document collections and use cases, define required outputs, evaluate data sensitivity, and access requirements, and establish an implementation roadmap.
